Required for every traveler on all international EF tours
What to know about passports & visas
While everyone traveling on an international tour with EF is required to have a passport, it’s important to note that when it comes to documentation, each destination and each traveler’s needs are unique.
Passports
Remember that the passport application and renewal process can take up to 14 weeks.
Must be valid for at least six months after your tour’s return date
Must have at least three blank pages in the back
Traveler name must match what’s listed in your EF account
We use travelers’ passport information to book flights—so their first, middle, and last names must perfectly match.
Visas & requirements for non-US citizens
Depending on where your child’s EF tour is or their citizenship, they may need one or multiple visa(s). Travelers and their families are responsible for obtaining their own visas for destinations they’re visiting and passing through. If visas are required for your child’s EF tour, this will be added to your to-do list in your individual traveler account after you enroll. If you’re curious about what documentation may be required for your child’s tour, we recommend using Sherpa and Visa Central to find quick-and-easy, personalized information.
European travel requirements
Starting in 2025, travelers of specific nationalities whose tour visits any country in the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland) or who transit through an airport in the United Kingdom will be required to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA). The European Union is scheduled to follow a similar authorization (called ETIAS) later in 2025. If obtaining an ETA and/or ETAIS is required for your child’s trip, this will be added to your to-dos in your individual traveler account after you enroll.
