Health & medical needs
In order to ensure a safe and enjoyable tour, all travelers should review the following items as they prepare to travel:
Health and and medical information
We recommend that you and your child be aware of the health- and disease-related issues unique to their intended destination. Please consult the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and its specific section "Traveler Health" before tour.
Medical needs
Group Leaders need to be aware of their travelers’ medications and health concerns. They should collect this information before tour using the Traveler Health & Medical Profile form.
Health insurance
Does your health insurance adequately cover you or your child abroad? EF recommends the Global Travel Protection plan, which is specifically designed to meet the needs of EF travelers. Travelers should also bring their U.S. health insurance information with them on tour.
Prescriptions
All prescriptions should be filled, up-to-date and in the original packaging. Travelers should pack their prescriptions in their carry-on bag with copies of the prescription paperwork. Also, Group Leaders must be aware of every prescription in their students’ possession.
Dietary and health issues
Travelers should speak to their Group Leader about any dietary or health-related issues that might affect them on tour so they can relay that information to the Tour Director. For example, if a student carries an EpiPen for peanut or other allergies, the Group Leader should know where to find it and how to administer it in the event of an emergency. EF tries to accommodate all dietary restrictions during included meals, but travelers with strict food requirements are advised to bring suitable snack options. EF cannot make special meal requests with the airlines; travelers should plan to notify the airline of any restrictions directly a few days before the flight.
Emergency contact
Travelers and parents should confirm that we have the correct emergency contact details on file. Log in and visit your Profile page at eftours.com/personal/profile, then scroll down to the “Contact Information” section and double-check that the info we have for your emergency contact is complete and accurate. (Make sure the person you choose will be reachable for the duration of your tour and isn’t traveling with your group.)
